This session describes the steps involved in writing a research manuscript to submit for publication. Topics include writing and editing, dealing with multiple coauthors, selecting a journal, and submitting the manuscript.

Discussion centers on the peer review process, criteria used in evaluating manuscripts, and advice on how to respond to reviewers’ comments.

This session offers recommendations for how to write a successful research proposal. Discussion centers on the content and form of selected sections of a proposal (abstract, specific aims, and research strategy). Although the information is broadly applicable, examples relate to NIH proposals.
